I do not know if it is safe, but one day I was trying to distill some "sweet shrub" buds to get the scent. It did not work but what I was left with was a beautiful red water in the still. The buds that are a beautiful red color were completely white, and the water had become the color of the bud.
Just sayin. I can distill the color, but I do not know where to begin testing it to see if it is safe for consumption. |

i would like to recommend that flowers such as roses, sunflower and violet could also be used as food color...:D
